How to use CSV Connectors in Google Data Studio

Marketing is one of the prominent domains for a company that looks into the performance metrics. Analyzing the same is important as it shapes the company into what it strives to be. Therefore, getting hold of tools and techniques that will aid in the same is essential. Google Data Studio is one such platform that allows users to access data from multiple sources and present them in the right form for a holistic understanding.

The tool uses various connectors to get hold of data and bring it under its ambit. Having every source connected to Google Data Studio enables the user to work without any hassle of gathering data from multiple sources. The work is simplified through the use of connectors. CSV connector is also one such connector that bridges the gap between the Data Studio and the CSV files.

CSV files connect to Google Data Studio

To set up a connection, there is no prerequisite of any tool or technology. However, one should make sure that the CSV file must have only comma-separated data. Also, the field headers should be the first values and the data in the filed should be in matching order after the values.

One may also check the file by opening it in both Google drive and excel separately to understand and mark the difference. Once the checking is done, one can directly pair them up with the help of the following steps –

1. Open Google Data Studio on the web and sign in to the account. Make sure you sign in using your

2. account that is in use. Otherwise, you might lose out on saved data and also might face problems recovering any lost data.

3. When the page opens, you will find a plus sign in the top left corner. Click on the same. The plus sign is likely to show in the multi-color format of colors in the Google logo. It will help in faster recognition.

4. On clicking, you will see a series of options. Click on ‘Data Source’ from there. This will allow you to choose from the options of data sources for your convenience.

5. Under the connectors panel, you will find an option that reads ‘File Upload’. Click on the same.

6. You have your CSV file in your system. If you do not have it already, make sure you do it at this step. Now, open the file location and drag the same to the upload target. After dragging it, you will get the option ‘UPLOAD FILES’. Click on it as it will upload the CSV file to the Data Studio.

Finally, the CSV file is uploaded. Simultaneously, the CSV connector is also successfully connected. Henceforth, users can easily connect to this data source and access the same to derive useful insights.

Once the connection is built, analysts can edit or delete a data set or even a file. The data connector panel allows every possible operation to be done. It should be noted that to carry out such operations, one does not have to reconnect. Connection is established once and it can be used as long as desired.
